Siquijor Festival - Preparations Under Way For 38th Araw ng



Siquijor Festival Grand Day is Set for September 17

Preparations for the Araw ng Siquijor celebration likely goes full blast this year with the introduction of several added attractions to make it even grander and livelier.

Without necessarily adding more to its budget, this year's 38th Araw ng Siquijor on September 17 promises to be a celebration replete with more exciting activities, combining new with the old.

Activities include the Sports Fest that officially opens on September 3 at the Siquijor Capital Square with a street parade and added sports such as Cheer Dance contest and dance sports to liven up the day.

Several other sports will be played from the opening up to the Grand Day.

There will also be a National Open Tennis tournament at the Capitol Tennis Court on September 13.

Also on the same day, is the opening of the Agri-Trade Fair/Food Fair at the Capitol Grounds; Poster making dubbed "Garay" contest; Photo contest, Sayawit Siquijodnon Competition and Miss Siquijor Tourism 2010 Talent Night.


Music and dance also fill the air starting this day (September 13) onwards in the daily/nightly cultural presentations and live performances from all six local government units, Siquijor State College and the Department of Education.

September 14 is programmed for Tourism Jingle Writing Contest and Bulilit Minus-One Singing Contest for 6 to 10 years old while September 15 is for Vocal trio Contest, Vocal Duet Contest, Expats Night and Boxing.

Miss Siquijor Tourism will be on September 16 at the Capitol Minipark following the Balitaw and the Comparza Carousal contests to be held at the Capitol Stairway.

Finally, on the Siquijor Festival Grand Day is the Festival Showdown also at the Capitol Grounds right after the Grand Parade and Festival Street Dancing at the Siquijor Thoroughfare, and awarding ceremonies at the of Outstanding Barangay Lupong Tagapamayapa, TOBOY 2010, Agri-Trade Fair Awardees and Search for Farmer Scientists Awardees.
