In the Central Luzon Region lie Angeles City/Clark and Subic Bay/Olongapo. Previously, both areas were the home to U.S. naval and air bases which were closed down. However, in recent years, both have become tourism magnets within the country. Angeles City/Clark for its international airport and nightlife, Subic Bay/Olongapo for its proximity to the port and various resorts and golf courses.

Hidden away in northern Luzon is Vigan, the oldest surviving city of Spanish architecture in the Philippines.
