PAL Express Sets its Sights on Saipan

PAL Express is eyeing Saipan, an island-territory in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, as its next destination.

With Filipinos comprising close to 35% (19,000) of the total population, the planned flights will provide them a convenient link to their home country.

The new flights will attract Saipan residents to fly to Manila and interconnect to any of the domestic and international destinations of the PAL network.

PALex said, "Our goal is to address the clamor for new routes in order to best serve the needs of the market. As we tap new markets and build on existing ones, we aim to ensure connectivity across the route network of the PAL Group by providing the required flight frequencies and schedules."

The planned twice weekly flights to and from Saipan will utilize the bi-class 156-seater A320 fleet.

PAL to add two more Boeing 777-300ERs to its fleet

Philippine Airlines will add two more B777-300ERs to its fleet to further strengthen the airline’s long-haul operations.

The B777s, which will bring the flag carrier’s over-all fleet count to 78, will be acquired by way of an agreement between leasing firm Intrepid Aviation and PAL. The orders are in addition to the six777-300ERs the flag carrier currently operates, including one leased by Intrepid Aviation.

“We celebrate our growing partnership with both Boeing and Intrepid Aviation,” said PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Jaime J. Bautista. "These additional 777-300ERs will help us continue to expand our long -haul markets efficiently and economically, while enabling us to provide passengers our trademark Filipino service in the modern, state-of-the-art 777.”
