Negros Oriental’s Buglasan Festival of Festivals Set on Oct. 17-26

This 2014 Negros Oriental's Buglasan Festival of festivals celebration is set on October 17-26 with more than 50 events calendared for the celebration.

The two-week long festivity will be participated by various local government units of the province and banners the theme “Community Development Through Tourism.”

Buglasan organizers have identified three venues for the main events which are spread out at Freedom Park, Sidlakang Negros Village and Rizal Boulevard to decongest the expected huge crowd.

In the meantime, the Negros Oriental Tourism Council (NOTC) has announced the extension of the deadline of submission of nominees for 2014 Outstanding Oriental Negrense Awards (ONA) for Excellence which will on October 3.

The ONA is scheduled during the opening of the Buglasan on October 17 which will be held at the Capitol forecourt.

For now, the organizers are busy preparing for the biggest event , Buglasan Festival, one of the Philippines most colorful festivals which will commence on October 17 with daily activities and programs until October 26.

Festival of festivals showdown, street dance, and king and queen on October 24, Friday serve as the festival highlights.

LGUs’ heritage booths at the Freedom Park and Sidlakan Negros Village will be set up as a part of the venues celebration along with the corporate booths and an array of mini restaurants for food. The showdown of festivals will bring in the best contingents from the province's more than 20 established festivals.

Showdown and street dancing represents the local fiestas in the municipalities and affords an opportunity for the public to witness the colorful activities in one place at one time which will be routed along Dumaguete’s main thoroughfares and presentation per contingent at the Lamberto Macial Sports and Cultural Center.
