La Laguna Festival Slated For April 20-29

The 26 towns and four component cities of Laguna will unite again as all manifested to participate in the 2nd La Laguna Festival to be held this year under the leadership of Governor Jeorge Ejercito Estregan.

It was learned that as early as January, the provincial government of Laguna already announced the target date of the most anticipated festival in the province, the La Laguna Festival. Provincial Administrator Atty. Leonardo M. Ragaza, Jr., said the festivities are set for April 20 - 29 , 2012 at the provincial capitol ground here.

Delto A. Abarquez Jr. who heads the Laguna Tourism, Culture, Arts and Trade (LTCAT) Office is the designated over-all committee and implementation chairman of the La Laguna Festival 2012.

The Festival of Life, as it is called, has the theme “Uno Progreso... Una sa Saya, Buhay Laguna!, ” which was inspired by the rapid progress that the province is now experiencing and the spirit of festivities of the Laguneños. Besides, La Laguna Festival 2011 was declared “The Best Tourism Event for 2011 in Festival Category Provincial Level” by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Association of the Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP).

This year's festival will feature a series of contests and shows to entertain expected visitors. Some of the activities lined up are a float competition, street dancing competition, dragon boat and banca race, and pyro musical competition. (Ruben E. Taningco/Alan C. Ortillano, PIA-Laguna)
