Cebu Pacific Boosts Mindanao Connectivity With More Flights

The Philippines’ largest budget carrier, Cebu Pacific (PSE:CEB) increases connectivity to and from Mindanao, by adding flight frequencies and options to travelers headed for Zamboanga, Tawi-Tawi and Davao.

Starting June 15, 2013, CEB will add two weekly flights using an Airbus A320 aircraft between Cebu and Zamboanga, making it a six times weekly service.

Meanwhile, starting July 1, 2013, CEB will add thrice weekly flights from Manila to Zamboanga, and from Zamboanga to Tawi-Tawi, making it a 24 times weekly service and a daily service, respectively.

The airline will operate a total of 32 weekly flights between Cebu and Davao also starting July 1, 2013, with the addition of four more weekly flights.

“Cebu Pacific continues to develop its routes and hubs in Mindanao, to further benefit Philippine tourism and trade. These additional flights mean more choices for our guests, be it same-day returns for business meetings or more opportunities for travel due to seat sales,” said CEB VP for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog.

In Q1 2013, CEB grew its domestic passengers to and from Zamboanga by 17%, as well as its Davao hub in Davao by 20%.Travel between the Visayas and Mindanao also grew by 13%, while travel within Mindanao grew by 45%. CEB launched multiple flights from Iloilo, Davao and Cagayan de Oro in the 4th quarter of 2012.

CEB, the leading domestic carrier, flies to 14 cities in Asia and 32 domestic destinations with direct flights from Clark, Cebu, Davao, and Manila. It currently has the youngest fleet in the country at less than 1.9 years, comprised of 21 Airbus A320s and 8 ATR aircraft.

CEB has the most number of inter-island routes and flight connections from its hubs in Clark, Manila, Cebu and Davao. It flies to 31 domestic destinations and 15 international cities.

CEB is slated to launch the following routes: Cebu-Masbate (June 1, 2013), Cebu-Taipei (July 5, 2013), Manila-Phuket (August 16, 2013), as well as the airline’s first long haul flights from Manila to Dubai (October 7, 2013).

CEB currently operates 10 Airbus A319, 25 Airbus A320 and 8 ATR-72 500 aircraft. Its fleet of 43 aircraft is one of the most modern aircraft fleets in the world. Between 2013 and 2021, Cebu Pacific will take delivery of 17 more Airbus A320 and 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft orders.
