Davao City to Hold 1st Summer Fest

The Davao City government is set to hold its 1st Davao Summer Festival to feature activities in sports, eco-adventures and entertainment for visitors and local tourists to enjoy.

The month-long summer festival, which will kick off on April 29 and culminate on May 29, is in cooperation with the Davao Association of Tour Operators (DATO) and Davao Tourism Association (DTA).

The first summer event was organized to address the need of holding an event during summer season when the most number of tourists flock to the city.

The summer fest will complement the existing major festivals like Araw ng Dabaw, Kadayawan Festival and Fiesta Davao for Davao City to establish itself as a primary summer destination in the Philippines.

DATO president Gary Cadungog said that football games will be the highlight in the sports event, featuring the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Suzuki U23 Mindanao Championship at Tionko Football Field slated on April 28-30.

The summer fest will ensure a regular flow of tourists who will not only enjoy sports but will also delight in the sights that Davao City can offer.

Local facility owners, tour operators and sports organizers will also be given the opportunity to showcase Davao’s various sports adventure facilities like zip lines, wakeboard park, river rafting, kayaking, mountain climbing and spelunking.

The summer fest will not only generate revenue for the city during the summer season but this will also promote camaraderie, project a wholesome image for the community, and endorse interests in sports and healthy living among the youth.

The city government also has the support and partnership with the following organizations in staging the summer festival:

Davao Travel Agency Association

Small Hotels Association of Davao
Davao Airline Operators Association
